I want him to take all the vacations he can, I think he is due for another one right now. In fact if we wants to take the next two years off that would be fine with me.

Our economy is in the tank and our leader is on TV on vacation all the time. Doesn’t that seem a little ridiculous?

I’m here on a student visa but I’m going to travel up north, are there any special documents I need to bring with me while traveling or going through the airport?

I have a Peace Corp volunteer friend who’s about to finish his two tours in the Philippines and now he wants to renew for third time. Is this possible? Are there any tour of duty limitations in a single country?

Your friend needs to talk to his CD. It’s only with that person’s permission it’s possible, and the CD won’t have the final say — it will lie with the Regional Manager.

And it might be tough, since after two terms, he’s unlikely to have the same CD he came in with. A newer CD might not be familiar enough with your friend’s work to fight for it, which is what it will take.

I have just seen a photo of Mr. Obama in today’s paper arriving at Martha’s Vineyard. Didn’t he just go to the Gulf one or two weeks ago? Does he think that life of a president is a Pleasantville with never ending vacations?

Most of us have two weeks of vacations, unless we work longer in a company. How many days of vacations does USA President have?

My friend purchased a plane ticket with this and when he tried to link his frequent flier account with the reservation, the airline told him that he cannot earn miles with this since it was purchased with frequent flier miles. I understand tickets purchased with miles cannot accrue miles, but the travel agent never alerted him that she was going to use frequent flier miles and I don’t believe this is standard practice. Is this allowed?
I meant her own miles.

But the underlying issue is that the agent never alerted him about the use of her personal miles.

For many airlines, the dirt cheap air tickets do not earn air miles too, not every ticket is entitled to air miles. For travel agents, using their own air miles to book a ticket for a customer at a low price is one of their ways to make a profit and there is nothing wrong with it."

This is completely wrong. By taking money and then using his or her miles to book the ticket, the travel agent is selling awards, which is explicitly in violation of the terms and conditions of nearly every single frequent flier program operating throughout the world today. Not only is this practice bad for the seller — the airline may choose a number of penalties for the account holder, including the forfeiture of miles or the closure of the account altogether — but the buyer of the ticket can be penalized as well.

The airline, under the terms of the frequent flier program, usually has the right to terminate the award ticket if they determine that it has been sold in violation of the program’s rules. This means that your friend, if it’s discovered that he purchased an award ticket, may either not get to go on his trip at all, or if they discover it when he’s trying to come home, he may be forced to buy a walkup one-way ticket back home, which could be extremely expensive.

(If either of these things occur, then your friend will only have recourse against the travel agent in trying to get his money back — the airline’s terms are clear that the ticket can be unilaterally cancelled.)

It doesn’t matter whether the ticket would or would not have earned miles based on the fare code — when a person buys a ticket from a travel agent, I venture that they’d have a reasonable expectation that they were buying a revenue ticket, and not just buying an award that runs a risk of being cancelled from under them if the airline questions where the award came from. For that reason, I’d highly suggest that your friend speak to this agent and ask for a refund — barring that, I’d personally consider filing a chargeback with the credit card company, if a card was used, based on misrepresenation of the item purchased.

I’m going to Seattle next week, and I was wondering if the University of Washington School of Medicine offers tours. I’m assuming there’s a medical school outside of the affiliated hospital? I know that undergraduate colleges & universities give tours but I don’t know if med schools do. I’m planning to eventually go to med school and thought I might as well check out the school while I’m there. Thanks for your help!

If you can’t attend a upcoming session, then I would recommend contacting them anyway to see if they could give you a tour. Possible. but not likely. It’s just difficult for the school to have someone who gives tours to every aspiring young doctor (considering there are millions)

Every time I get on Yahoo! I see something about yet another vacation.. Are they taking advantage of the fact that they are only going to be millionaires for a short time? I think Obama has created more jobs for his Caddies than he has for the rest of Americans.. How many rounds of golf and vacations do they really need???

You are absolutely right, Quagmire.

They are almost never in the House or Senate chambers. Usually on the phone in their office asking people for campaign donations to get re-elected, and usually only come out into the chamber to vote or make a speech about their city / town’s championship YMCA softball team. Utter nonsense, considering their paychecks.

They also only work 4 day weeks, and work about 35 weeks per year, when you count all the vacations.

They are the ruling class. The ruling class gets what it wants. It’s that simple.

I want to know the best place to go for all inclusive vacations. Virgin Islands? Bahamas?

Well the virgin islands are nice but they are not close to the America. The bahama is 30 mins off the south Florida coast. The Bahamas is also pretty cheap to go to.
