For a really brilliant experience, give Turkey a try. It’s a beautiful country and there is a lot to see and do. For the attractions not to miss out on while visiting Turkey, read on to find out more. One place you should definitely visit is the Blue Mosque, which was completed in 1616. Its walls are lined with beautiful blue tiles, which are where it gets its name, and the light is reflected through the windows of the building. It’s probably the most beautiful mosque in the world.
The Gallipoli Anzacs are now a national park but were once the sight of a bloody battle during the First World War, during which both the Turks and Allies suffered heavy casualties when the Allies tried to open a supply line through the Black Sea to Russia. Eventually the Turks won following some intense warfare. Now you can see some war memorials alongside sandy beaches and beautiful pine forests, all of which are definitely worth exploring on your visit to the area.
You should also visit the Cappadocia region, which is in central Turkey and is considered to be one of the geological wonders of the world. There are lots of unusual valleys and cones, which were created by the eruption of two volcanoes more than 60 million years ago. You can also see more than 600 churches and other buildings cut into the rocks in the region, where you will find quite a lot of frescoes painted onto the walls. Cappadocia has been home to many cultures over the centuries.
Ephesus has a history dating back to 12BC and it is now one of the best preserved ancient cities in the world, with around 20% of the city being excavated. It used to be home to the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, as well as one of the Seven Churches of Revelation where St Paul lived and preached. Ephesus was one an important trade and religious center and you definitely can’t leave Turkey without paying a visit.
Finally, you should definitely pay a visit to Mount Nemrut, which is a beautiful sight. It is part of the Taurus mountain range and used to be where the small but rich Commagene Kingdom was based. You can see the famous sanctuary of Antiochos I, which he built for himself as a funerary monument. This is a massive head that is more than 50 meters tall and 150 meters in diameter. There are also huge representations of Zeus and Apollo.

To make this doubly hard, there is not that much ‘chaff’ in the first place, so deciding on where to take your children on a fun day out in Manchester can end up being a bit of a chore in itself! One place that is sure to grab the attention of every child is the Legoland Discovery Center situated in The Trafford Center. If you are looking for somewhere to take small children to wear them out, there is no better place in Manchester than the Head Over Heels Play Center in Chorlton, Greater Manchester. With a giant slide and lots of different play areas and climbing apparatus spread across a total of 3 levels reaching a massive 6.5m tall, the Head Over Heels Play Center is sure to tire even the most enthusiastic and excitable of children. Other similar venues are the Land of Play Indoor Play Center and The Wacky Warehouse in East Didsbury.
Most kids love a day out karting and Greater Manchester has some of the finest indoor circuits in England. Two of the most popular tracks in the area are Daytona Manchester, situated in Trafford Park which caters for children as young as 5 years old; and also Karting2000 which is situated in Gorton, northwest Manchester. Karting2000 primarily caters for older age groups but there are karts for children as young as 9 years old available.
If you are looking for something different, why not take your family on an indoor alpine ski adventure at the 180 meter long Chill Factore indoor real snow slope center located in the Trafford Quays Leisure Village. Bulgaria is a country with a rich but troubled history dating back thousands of years. Located in the southeast of Europe, Bulgaria has been experiencing rapid economic growth over the last few years, though it still maintains one of the lowest income levels in the European Union. The country has some wonderful geography with vast plains and mountainous regions all controlled by a temperate climate. In terms of tourism, Bulgaria is an up and coming destination for primarily European tourists, the Lonely Planet guide even placing it as high as 5th place in its top ten destinations to visit in 2010.
The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia, a city of approximately 1.2 million people. Sofia is an amazing city with some of the best nightlife in the Balkans coupled with areas of impressive historical architecture. Sofia was once ruled by Alexander the Great after he defeated the Thracian rulers around 334 BC, though a few hundred years later it was conquered by the Romans and subsequently became a municipium meaning a center of an administrative region. Today Sofia is well known for its huge range of cultural buildings including numerous museums, and arts orientated constructions.
Another of Bulgaria’s finest cities is Varna, a seaside resort located on the western coast of the Black Sea. Varna is often referred to as the marine capital of Bulgaria and therefore has become an extremely popular tourist destination for domestic and international travelers. Varna was recently named as Bulgaria’s best city to live in and has some of the best and oldest museums, arts companies and festivals in Bulgaria.
Just behind Varna in terms of population is Burgas, (occasionally referred to as Bourgas). Situated amongst the Burgas Lakes, this extremely popular seaside resort has something for everyone, with fascinating historical architecture and modern trendy bars and clubs. Although the tourism industry in the city is not as developed as other destinations, Borgas still has a lot to offer in terms of good quality restaurants, museums, art galleries and some scintillating nightlife.
Although not a city, Golden Sands is the most popular seaside resort in the whole of Bulgaria. Golden Sands is only 17km from Varna though it has become more popular due to (amongst other things) having the purest quartz sand on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. What makes Golden Sands so special is that it is a seaside resort that has been developed with only one goal in mind, to entertain and accommodate tourists.

Fashion trends seem to dictate popular tourist destinations to the point that as soon as a celebrity is spotted on a yacht or outside a nightclub in a particular area, it instantly becomes the next holiday destination for the masses. Films such as Star Wars: A New Hope and The Phantom Menace (21st Century), Raiders of the Lost Ark, and The English Patient were all filmed in the canyons, caves and cities of Tunisia. To go with your great selection of tees, make sure you take a few pairs of board shorts on your vacation. These are fantastic as they can double up as bathing shorts, saving space in your luggage. They’re also great for going out on day trips or for a casual, laidback beach look. Go for a longer length down to you knee if possible. They also fold up really small and are made from breathable fabric, making them ideal for summer vacations.
You need to make sure to take a couple of pairs of shoes with you on vacation, too. Don’t go overboard or they won’t fit in your luggage! Flip flops are great for casual exploring or for lounging around on the beach, plus they’re cheap and don’t take up much space, making them a great buy. A pair of sturdy sandals is also a good idea on vacation as they’re breathable and cool but sturdy enough that you’ll be able to walk around in them if you need to.
Particularly if you have fair skin, it can be a really good idea to take a few casual long-sleeve shirts with you. These will be great for protecting your shoulders from the sun as well as for if you find yourself going out for any formal meals or events. Choose light colors that reflect the sun, such as white or pale blue, as this will ensure they keep you cool even with long sleeves. You could even wear a shirt unbuttoned for a cool, casual summer vacation look.
