Is it possible for a Peace Corps volunteer to spend three tours consecutively in one country?

I have a Peace Corp volunteer friend who’s about to finish his two tours in the Philippines and now he wants to renew for third time. Is this possible? Are there any tour of duty limitations in a single country?

Your friend needs to talk to his CD. It’s only with that person’s permission it’s possible, and the CD won’t have the final say — it will lie with the Regional Manager.

And it might be tough, since after two terms, he’s unlikely to have the same CD he came in with. A newer CD might not be familiar enough with your friend’s work to fight for it, which is what it will take.

See the Peace Corps manual, which is posted here: http://www.peacecorpsjournals.com/manual/MS281.html#3.0–extension_of_volunteer_service_within_the_host_country

"3.3.2 Extensions Beyond 25 Months
A Volunteer’s request for an extension of service beyond 25 months from the original COS date may be approved only by the Regional Director. The Country Director shall send an email, fax, or cable to the Regional Director explaining why, based on the criteria in paragraph 3.2 above, the extension is warranted; what extraordinary circumstances warrant the extension beyond 25 months; and whether special leave would be applicable. The Regional Director shall send an email, fax, or cable to the Country Director either approving or disapproving the request. If the request is approved, the Country Director must report the extension using the format described in paragraph 3.3.1, noting the Regional Director’s approval. "

Does the UW School of Medicine offer tours?

I’m going to Seattle next week, and I was wondering if the University of Washington School of Medicine offers tours. I’m assuming there’s a medical school outside of the affiliated hospital? I know that undergraduate colleges & universities give tours but I don’t know if med schools do. I’m planning to eventually go to med school and thought I might as well check out the school while I’m there. Thanks for your help!

Contact them.
Below is a link to the UW Med school Information sessions.
If you can’t attend a upcoming session, then I would recommend contacting them anyway to see if they could give you a tour. Possible. but not likely. It’s just difficult for the school to have someone who gives tours to every aspiring young doctor (considering there are millions)

Is it safe to buy tours in Cancun from street vendors?

Ive been walking around in the Hotel District and quite a few people have approached me regarding tours. They say they can get them much cheaper than the hotel can, and im wondering if its safe to buy them. Will the tour company accept the voucher? Are these people trustworthy?
Any help/advice from someone who has done this before would be really great!

Are there any cave tours to explore in or around Barcelona?

I will be traveling to Barcelona in a few days. I wanted to go caving and was wondering if there are any cave tours in or around Barcelona. I can go as far as Andorra and the Pyrenees if necessary, but the closer the better.

Here you go…don’t have to go as far as Andorra.

Do you look at virtual tours when searching for properties?

When I put a listed property online I have sellers wanting a virtual tour. The broker here thinks nobody really looks at the virtual tours posted. He thinks they just look at the pictures.
Yes or no will do unless you like to elaborate.

The broker is dead wrong! Virtual tours provide clues to many things if the viewer is truly interested in finding out about the property and possibly the seller. I look at the pictures, of course, but total content tells a much bigger story. In fact, when I’ve watched the tour, I then wonder about some of the things that were not presented and that sends up flags of a couple of different colors. When there’s no tour to be watched, I’m turned off because it suggests (to me) that the seller isn’t wanting to divulge certain information.

Gay Tours: The Freedom To Be Who You Are

Gay people have seemingly always existed as their is historic evidence of homosexual activity and indeed one of the most often cited bastions of gay acceptance, the Greeks and Romans, existed over 2,000 years ago. Today, the world is as varied as it has always been and the struggle to accept homosexuality continues to be debated, embraced, and rejected. There are some countries (such as Canada), however, that are extremely accepting of gays and allow them to marry. If a country is not totally welcoming, there are still arenas that cater to gays like travel agencies that put together gay tours.

In the United States, gay rights are debated across a variety of regions whose ideals shift radically based on culture and religion. Some cities are more gay friendly than others and some states, like Vermont, allow gay marriages that would not be recognized otherwise. Because America is a melting pot, the reaction to homosexuality runs the gamut, but it is still better than countries like Iran which punish gay lifestyles with death sentences.

Is it a choice? Are you born gay? These are the questions that the rest of the world struggles with and that a gay child does not concern themselves with. To be gay is to realize your difference very early one and carry that into puberty. Adolescence is already a time of struggle and reflection that for gay teens, includes having to choose between being in the closet and acting the part of a straight teen or coming out and dealing with reactions that can be either accepting or rejecting.

Coming to terms with sexuality and a place in the world means finding like minded individuals. Technology, thankfully, has stepped forward and given gays a voice and a community. Lesbian Gay and Transgendered (LGBT) groups have come forward to make gayness a safe and normal state of being that is supported and full of love.

Many straight adults never have to think twice about feeling accepted sexually and so it can be underestimated that for a gay person to be around other gay persons, it can be one of the most accepting and transformative experiences. Finding time to be around other gays and having a sense of community does not have to be the exclusive purview of gay clubs. Travel feeds the soul and traveling with other gay people on gay tours can open up the world.

Gay tours also work as a great travel template to know where there are areas in which acceptance is high, bringing the overall anxiety level down. These tours can be centered on cruise ships with varying destinations and a very party boat atmosphere or they can be more focused and smaller, like wildlife tours that let you explore the natural wonders of places like Alaska.

On top of having a wealth of experiences open to you, the travel manifest is also something you can have a say in. You can go on a gay tour with a combination of gays, lesbians, and their friends, or just with gay families, or just with other lesbians, or just with other gay men. Depending on your identity and preference, there is a tour waiting for you.

Experience the world and let your true personality shine through without fear of being rejected. Gay tours are a great way to relax and take a moment to be around so many other gay people, a luxury that straight people have every single day. The psychological benefits cannot be discounted.

Howie Holben wrote this gay trips pointers essay. He is the caretaker of Spirit Journeys, a gay egypt tour organization. Spirit Journeys presents spiritual gay workshops all over the planet.

Gold Coast Beach Safety Tips

Australia’s Gold Coast is not only known for it’s beautiful white sand beaches but for it’s many dangers as well. Because of this the Gold Coast is home to Australia’s largest surf life saving service.

One service is the Queensland Shark Control Program (SCP). There have been no fatal shark attacks since the late 1950, on the protected ocean beaches, however there have been two fatal attacks in inland lakes areas since 2002. The SCP uses nets and baited drumlins to catch the sharks off of the major swimming beached, although they do get within range of the patrolled beaches.

The two fatalities were both male, who were swimming in the morning. These men wear attached by a bull shark, also known as the whaler shark. Bull sharks are common, worldwide, along warm coastal waters and in rivers. It is also known for its predictable and aggressive behaviors. At the first sight of a shark the life guards will immediately call for everyone to evacuate the waters.

All Gold Coast Beaches are free and the life guards are paid for by the council, the life savers are volunteers. Do not believe some unscrupulous tour guides if they say that there are charges associated with the beach. There are no charges and if you want to give you money away, then donate it to the Surf Life Saving Association.

There are flags on each patrolled beach that relate to the area you are in. Below is a guide for you to follow on your next visit.

Red and Yellow flag: indicated that this is the safest swimming area and are the most common flag you will see. On popular beaches they are usually only a few hundred metres apart so you can always swim on a patrolled beach.

Solid Yellow Flag: This flag is cautioning you against potential dangers. Check with the beach patrol to see how long the danger will be present.

Solid Red Flag: This means that the beach is closed for swimming as there is a definite danger present. you should not enter the water no matter what the circumstance is.

Red and White Checkered Flag: This flag indicates that there has been a shark sighting in the water. Shark patrol will chase the shark well away to ensure there is no more danger before reopening the beach.

Blue flag with surfer person on: indicates that this is a board riding area for surfers and a safe area to ride your surfboard.

There are various surfers paradise accommodation for you choose from for your upcoming vacation. To find gold coast hotels that are suitable for your stay log onto www.goldcoastinformation.com.au.
