Travel More in 2010
2010 is the year for you to travel more. Whether that means just exploring your hometown or your region, or finally booking that flight overseas, you really should spend some time this year seeing the world beyond. By traveling, you open your eyes to new adventures and cultures you might even know existed. It will help you to appreciate your own life and be more thankful for what you have. Whether it is luxury travel or roughing it on the backpacker circuit, or just exploring unknown sights not far away, travel more and break out of your comfort zone.
2009 was dominated by headlines of recession, economic collapse, and other massive world inequity. The global economic situation has stabilized in 2009, but we aren’t out of the woods yet. Most travel brands are looking at putting maximum pressure into getting profits back up in 2010, and that means big discounts for travelers. You don’t have to look far for a special, and you can even get some amazing deals for luxury travel or once-in-a-lifetime experiences. So, if your budgets are tight, that isn’t an excuse not to travel more in 2010.
A great place to see in 2010 is Melbourne. It’s Australia’s second largest city, and although not the Australian capital (that’s Canberra) nor the largest city (that’s Sydney), it is without a doubt the country’s cosmopolitan centre. From the fabulous beachside lifestyle to the pumping beat of the nightlife or the amazing Asia-meets-European cuisine, there is little not to like in Melbourne. You can go for drives along the coast or go backpacking in the hills. It’s a bit far out of the way but well worth the journey. If you love cosmopolitan culture, travel more in 2010 and check out Melbourne.
Depending on where in the world you live, you might only have a couple of week’s vacation to take holidays during the year. But don’t be tempted into taking a Friday off here or there. It really can benefit fit you, both spiritually and physically, to instead actually take at least a week but more if you can and explore. Get away from your day to day habits and routine and start feeling alive. It will be hard the first day or two, but after three or four days you’ll start feeling more yourself.
Now dust off your old journal and start packing your bags. Isn’t there someplace you’d like to travel to in 2010?
